The history of athletics is strongly ingrained in the city of Boston.

Four successful sports franchises ensure that fans are always fired up and ready to support their teams.

The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies will play the first game of a three-game weekend series at Citizens Bank Park on Friday.

Interestingly, though, there are other Boston sports teams in town that weekend besides the Red Sox.

The Eastern Conference semifinal game between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers will take place across the street at Wells Fargo Center.

Red Sox reporter Steve Perrault mentioned this intriguing coincidence on Twitter.

Another city that is devoted to its sports teams is Philadelphia.

Philadelphia and Boston fans will congregate in the same city the following week for two distinct events.

Some people will travel to watch the weekend series between the Red Sox and Phillies.

The NBA playoffs, though, will pique the interest of others.

The fact that two teams from both locations will play in Philadelphia on consecutive occasions is a pretty intriguing coincidence.

Game 3 at Wells Fargo Center might be more crowded than Citizens Bank Park because it’s still early in the MLB regular season.

Regardless of why they came to Philadelphia, fans of each team will find both stadiums to be fascinating environments.

But one thing is certain.

As the worlds of sports collide, the fan bases of both teams will be prepared to go.
