The St. Louis Cardinals‘ downward trend resumed on Thursday.
Starter Jack Flaherty struggled and gave up 10 runs despite taking an early 2-0 lead.
The Cardinals made things interesting by cutting the lead to 11-7, but they couldn’t overcome the setback and dropped their sixth straight game, dropping to 12 games under.500 for the first time since 1999.
Fans of other teams are also dismayed by the poor start of the Cardinals.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today likewise seems perplexed.
Nightengale criticized the Cardinals for their mediocre start on Twitter, demanding to know who kidnapped them and replaced them with fake players who are losing games.
Ok, who kidnapped the #STLCards and put these imposters on the field?
They are 10-21.
They have the worst record in the National League.
They are on pace to lose 110 games.

St. Louis was down 11-2 to the Los Angeles Angels in the fourth inning when the tweet was sent.
The Cardinals are out of time to find their rhythm, but they still haven’t.
They are no longer able to use the it’s early defense.
The team is on pace to lose more than 100 games as it is off to its worst start since 1973.
The Cardinals have won two division championships in the previous four years and have not missed the postseason since 2018.
They are, however, rapidly losing ground in the standings and slipping farther out of the running for their fifth straight playoff berth.
They now have the worst record in the National League with a record of 10–22.
The Cardinals are simply unrecognizable as a result of their recent slump, even though there is still time for things to turn around.
Additionally, the Cards have lost all 10 of their series-opening games this season without picking up a victory.
