What a difference a week makes.
Less than a week, in fact.
On Tuesday, theNew York Metslost their third straight game: two against the Washington Nationals, and one against the Tampa Bay Rays.
They turned up the heat on Wednesday, though, and haven t looked back since.
The Mets have now won five straight contests and seven of their last ten.
Two of those five came against the impressive Rays, and the other three came against the Cleveland Guardians.
Walk-off victories, pitching masterpieces, clutch hitting: you name it, and the Mets displayed it this past week.
As Stringer Bell from The Wire (played by Idris Elba) said, the Mets are back up .

The Mets made that hilarious meme after Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander combined to throw 14 innings of one-run ball on Sunday against the hapless Guards.
The two Mets aces, after a few health-related hiccups, appear to be at full strength now, and that means nothing but good news for Mets fans.
Verlander was booed in his previous outing, against the Rays, when he allowed six runs.
Now, he completely dominated Cleveland for eight innings.
He had stated after that loss that he understood the boos, but that the team was trying to play better.
They certainly did from Wednesday on.
As a result, New York is now in sole possession of second place in the NL East standings.
They were fourth at one point last week.
Their 20-23 record after Tuesday s loss is now a much better-looking 25-23.
For all their troubles, the Mets are now just five games behind the Atlanta Braves for the division lead.
Here come the Mets.
