After acquiring superstar quarterback Russell Wilson in a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks before last season, theDenver Broncoswere thought to have thrust the team back into the spotlight as a legitimate title contender in the AFC.

If any team in the league knew how to bring in a veteran quarterback and turn things around immediately, it s the Broncos who were able to accomplish just that, with superstar Peyton Manning resulting in two Super Bowl appearances and one title won.

Unfortunately for Denver, the trade to bring in Wilson didn t work as planned last year, with the perennial Pro Bowler struggling to make an impact for the Broncos and appearing to have lost a step or two compared to what he could do for the Seahawks.

In an effort to get back on track before the start of the 2023 NFL season, the Broncos made another move that sent shockwaves throughout the league, as they hired one-time Super Bowl champion Sean Payton to be the team s new head coach.

Although there s no telling how this will go in Denver, Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports believes Payton is a game-changer for the Broncos, resulting in the team doubling their win total from last season.

There s no question that Payton is a talented head coach with a lot of experience, especially with a quarterback that Wilson has been compared to frequently in Drew Brees, due to their small stature and ability to win games regardless.

Despite Payton s talent, it may be a tall task to get the most out of Wilson at this point in his career, as he may officially be washed up at this point.

However, anything can happen in this league, and the Broncos will have a shot to prove their doubters wrong in 2023.
