For the past few months, reports have circulated that Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Commanders for over 20 years, was ready to part ways with the franchise. His tenure has been plagued with poor performance and numerous off-field scandals and controversies.
A group headed by billionaire Josh Harris, a private equity investor, was in line to purchase the Commanders. However, the process has been slow going.
The NFL’s Involvement
Mark Maske of Front Office Sports recently reported that the NFL is expected to resolve its legal issues with Snyder and allow the sale to go through. A poll was conducted among NFL owners which showed unanimous support for the sale.
The Washington Commanders have been mired in controversy for years, and it appears that the franchise is now on the cusp of being sold to a new owner. With the NFL’s backing, the sale of the Commanders is expected to be finalized in the near future.
