Super-utility player Christopher Morel began the season for the Chicago Cubs in the minor leagues.
But early in May, the Cubs made the decision to promote him back to the Major Leagues.
Since that time, Morel has been hitting well and has given the struggling Cubs a little spark.
In a 12-3 loss to the reigning National League champion Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, Morel smashed his eighth home run.
It’s interesting to note that this was only Morel’s 10th game of the season.
On Saturday at Citizens Bank Park, he hit his eighth home run, and MLB shared a video of it on Twitter.

This season, Morel has undoubtedly got off to a fast start.
It’s quite telling that he’s only played 10 games and has already hit seven home runs.
The 23-year-old has seven home runs in addition to a stellar batting average of.381, 13 runs batted in, a.409 on-base percentage, a.952 slugging percentage, and an OPS of 1.361.
His OPS+ is 261, as well.
Chicago’s record for the year so far is 20–25.
For the team in 2023 so far, Morel is without a doubt an important player.
The youthful slugger made his Major League debut last year and hit 16 home runs with a.235 average.
Last year, Morel participated in 113 games.
Morel may be on track to break that record with 7 home runs in just 10 games as the Cubs try to turn things around and gain some ground in the NL Central.
If Morel can maintain this level of production, only time will tell.
