NFL scouts weren t that sold on him coming out of Texas Tech, calling him raw and out of control.
Fast forward to today and Mahomes has become the standard for the quarterback of the new era, establishing himself as the best, most spectacular player in the league, and playing his way into the Pro Football Hall of Fame already.
That s why Chris Broussard believes that he should already be ranked ahead of legends like Peyton Manning, going as far as to say that he s the third-best quarterback in the history of the game.

Broussard put Mahomes right behind Tom Brady and Joe Montana.
He claimed that as good as the Chiefs are, Mahomes is actually the show.
Broussard praised Travis Kelce and Andy Reid, yet he seems to think Mahomes should be No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 in the list of reasons why they ve become the strongest powerhouse in the league right now.
Truth be told, Mahomes might as well be the most talented quarterback ever.
His r sum obviously is still a work in progress, and losing in the Super Bowl to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be a stain he s never going to be able to wipe off, but he still has a chance to become the most accomplished player ever, even ahead of Brady.
Like him or not, watching Mahomes play is history in the making, and who knows? He might even jump to No. 1 once it s all said and done.
