TheDallas Cowboyshave one of the best defenses in the NFL, which will remain the case heading into the 2023 NFL season.
However, the Cowboys will likely want to address one player s immediate future in particular before the start of the 2023 campaign in September, with Trevor Diggs heading into the final year of his rookie contract.
Diggs has far exceeded expectations while playing for Dallas and has quickly become one of the best cornerbacks in the league, which means he s in for a big payday.
Fortunately for Diggs, it appears that contract extension talks have officially begun, according to Dov Kleiman of BroBible.
Report: The #Cowboys and CB Trevon Diggs had preliminary talks about a potential contract extension.
The market value for top CBs is around $20M per year.

With some of the best players at his position making considerably more than he does now, Diggs could head into the 2023 NFL season becoming a very wealthy man like his brother Stefon Diggs is with the Buffalo Bills as one of the best wide receivers in the game.
Although Diggs came up short of being an All-Pro like he was during the 2021 season, he did earn his second Pro Bowl nod after recording three interceptions, 14 passes defended, and one fumble recovery while playing in all 17 regular-season games for the Cowboys.
As an essential part of the Cowboys defense, the team will likely do everything possible to keep Diggs happy and in Dallas for the foreseeable future.
Dallas will have an ideal opportunity in 2023 to take advantage of a relatively weak NFC, with the team expected to be a heavyweight on both sides of the football, with Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons leading the way for the storied franchise.
