TheSt. Louis Cardinalsoutfield has become unrecognizable this season with stars such as Lars Nootbaar and Tyler O Neill on the injured list.
Both outfielders are on the IL thanks to back issues.
O Neill has been down since May 5, when he first went on the IL.
However, John Denton of MLB.com has an update on the young slugger, who has struggled mightily with injuries early on in his career.
Denton revealed on Twitter, that O Neill recently received two pain-killing injections in his back after consulting with a specialist in California.
The plan is for O Neill to resume baseball activities on Thursday.
#STLCards OF Tyler O Neill said he recently got two pain-killing injections after consulting with a back specialist in Southern California. O Neill was prescribed 14 days of no activity. He hopes to restart baseball drills on Thursday.

Denton also revealed that O Neill had been prescribed 14 days of rest after the pain-killing injections.
Though O Neill has struggled with his health and ability to remain consistent early in his career, the young outfielder still possesses tremendous power at the plate.
He also provides elite defense and speed in the outfield, so having him back would certainly help the Cardinals out as far as sorting out the mess in their outfield is concerned.
The 27-year-old s best season with St. Louis came in 2021.
That year, he hit a career-high 34 home runs and even forced his way into the MVP conversation.
O Neill landed on the injured list three separate times last season.
This season, he has hit just .228 with two home runs and six RBI.
He has also stolen a base.
O Neill won Gold Gloves in 2020 and 2021.
His back has proven to be a chronic issue this season, but getting him back may give the Cardinals a boost.
