TheNew York Yankeeswill be without a key pitcher for the remainder of the 2023 season.
Veteran right-hander Jimmy Cordero has been suspended by Major League Baseball for violating the league s domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse policy.
MLB made this announcement in a press release.
The press release revealed that after an investigation, Cordero accepted a suspension for the remainder of the regular season and the entire postseason.
Cordero will now begin to participate in a confidential and comprehensive evaluation and treatment program supervised by the Joint Policy Board.
On Twitter, Yankees writer Chris Kirschner posted a screenshot of MLB s statement on the matter.

Cordero has appeared in 31 games this season for the Yankees.
In those appearances, he owns a 3-2 record with an ERA of 3.86.
The veteran reliever has pitched a total of 32.2 innings and has struck out 34 batters.
He also owns a WHIP of 1.071.
With Cordero now out for the season, the Yankees may ultimately look to add a piece or two to their bullpen at the trade deadline.
This is a significant blow for the Yankees, given that they are already without right-hander Scott Effross for the season.
Frankie Montas and Nestor Cortes are on the injured list as well.
So, in addition to some injuries in their starting rotation, the Yankees may now have a spot to fill in their bullpen as the August 1 deadline approaches.
The Yankees own a record of 48-38 and lead the Toronto Blue Jays by two games for the final American League Wild Card spot.
